It is with great pride that I inform you that this past February 26th, 2009 marked Alpha Omega’s 125th Year Anniversary at the University of Florida. To celebrate our history of dominance on campus and kick off our next 125 years, we will be hosting a HUGE banquet on Saturday April 10th, 2010 at The Haile Plantation Clubhouse from 7:30-11:30. I hope this letter makes it to you early enough for you to save that date for our fraternity’s historic celebration. If you have been disconnected from Alpha Omega recently, PLEASE use this banquet as an opportunity to come meet the brothers who have worked tirelessly over the past three years to bring the tradition back to our fraternity, and to also catch up with your brothers and pledge brothers whom you may not have recently seen. Our families will be there, as well as our dates, and it is my goal to see hundreds of faces of alumni whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting during my tenure as a Tau. It is the culmination of the rich history WE have ALL contributed to and will be quite the foundation for our next 125 years of success. The banquet will include Wynn Smiley (National CEO) as our Keynote Speaker, the disbursement of scholarships, the Honoring of Chapter Advisor Doc Maturo for 51 years of service, individual brotherhood awards, and State of the Chapter Addresses from both John Marion (President BOT) and myself(WM). If you RSVP on the website, and then mail your checks in soon enough so that we can get an appropriate head count, it is my desire to review the list of attendees and, time in the program permitting, ask a brother or two from each generation to say a few words during the banquet about what their time was like as an active Tau. This event could very well be one of the most special in Alpha Omega’s history; I sincerely hope you won’t miss it. I look forward to celebrating our history with EVERYONE who contributed to it. Again, please check the 125 tab to RSVP! RSVPs must be made by March 17th, and checks received by March 24th, to hold your spot, as unfortunately Haile Plantation’s Clubhouse does not have unlimited space.
